Regarding tea staining, the paper I only have experience with using is white illustration board. It is somewhat thick and has a slightly textured surface. The thickness keeps the paper from bowing, and the surface accepts many different mediums. Thin paper or ones with a hotpress (smooth) surface probably wouldn't work as well.
